Vacuum Induction Melting Furnace for Ti64 Alloy

This Vacuum Induction Melting (VIM) furnace is expertly engineered for the melting and precision casting of reactive alloys, such as Ti64 (Ti-6Al-4V). It operates on the principle of medium frequency induction heating, ensuring efficient and uniform melting within a high-vacuum environment, which is critical for preventing contamination of oxygen-sensitive materials.

The system is equipped with a high-performance vacuum unit, typically a combination of mechanical, Roots, and diffusion pumps, achieving an ultimate vacuum of up to 7x10⁻³ Pa. This effectively removes gases and prevents oxidation during the melting process. The furnace can reach temperatures of 2000°C, suitable for a wide range of high-temperature alloys.

Key features include a standard alloy feeder for controlled material addition and an optional secondary feeding system for continuous operation under vacuum. For process monitoring, the furnace cover is fitted with an observation window, protected by a shield against metal vapor deposition. The core of the system is the inductor, constructed from rectangular copper tubing and designed for easy installation and maintenance. Crucibles can be either pre-sintered forms or rammed linings, with the refractory material selected specifically for the alloy being melted, such as Ti64.

This furnace is an ideal solution for the research, development, and small-batch production of high-integrity titanium alloy components.
